9/23/2010- The Princess went back to public school- her choice. I DID allow her to- if you want to see my reasons, you can go to this post and read all about it.
I’m not overly thrilled but I just want her to be happy and learn.
But I see her coming home limping (she has Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis) and sooo tired. She just started on new meds yesterday- Humira. Hopefully it helps.
They had open house last night and I really cannot stand that school. They have added on to the building, and moved the 5th graders over from the elementary.
The place is like a mall- it’s huge! I was exhausted just going from where the buses drop the kids off to my daughters homeroom! Down a long, long hallway, then another hallway- up to the second floor.
Ironically, her homeroom is upstairs, the next period is downstairs, then back up, then back down………these are all accompanied by long hallways in between.
She does have a doctors note to use the elevator, but when they renovated, they failed to put an elevator in that section of the building. All of her classes are a mile and a half from the old elevator, so she would end up walking just as much.
The school is hot as “you know what”….
All I heard is parents complaining about how hot it was and “We have to go back upstairs?”
I’ve already had a phone call from the homeroom/English teacher. The Princess is not organized…
….and ???????????
Have you read the teachers notes from days past?
Unorganized, unorganized…..
You expect ME to help her? I’m a bit disorganized myself!
Give me 5 or 6 HUGE text books, PLUS all of those !”, 2″ and 3″ binders they require you to have for class, plus your spiral notepads, calculator, yadda-yadda…..
…ask me to shove it all into a small locker…
Sure…
Ok, so sometimes her homework doesn’t even make it to the folder.
We were working on organization when we were homeschooling.
Guess it didn’t work all that well.
8/6/2010- Check out the bug we found- it was shedding it’s old shell- not really sure what it is…
It looked maybe like a tomato worm. We have to conduct some research on this….
The Princess has been begging us to buy a coconut so she can see what it looks like inside and taste it “fresh”.
Grandpa drilled hole in it first to see if there was any milk in it- there wasn’t.
Then we banged it with a hammer to open it- even Little Man helped.
When it was opened, we all tasted it. It wasn’t too bad at first, but then I got a bite that tasted kind of like BAD milk! Yuk!
Until next time….
7/21/2010- We are into the summer after our first year homeschooling.
If you were a regular follower of my homeschooling page on my old blog, you would see that we went from “school” at home to education at school.
Ironic that Ron is watching True TV right now and the story is about a kid that shoots a bunch of kids on a bus.
My daughter wants to go back to school (kind of) but I am petrified. I thought we were bad as kids….geez, I cannot believe the kids these days!
The good news is she continues to learn on her own every day, so either way she will learn!

Hi Carolee,
I saw your comment on my blog and thanks for following me. I’m your newest follower!
It looks like you are juggling lots too between homeschooling and business!
Nice to “meet” you

I think your bug is a cicada!

We have the same “unorganized” issues with our middle schooler! It’s not our fault he has 30 things to keep up with in school! I also think the bug is a cicada. Not sure where you are from but we have those all over NC
We mostly just find the shell and a missing bug!
Hey Holly- that was really cool finding that in action!
Thanks for visiting!
