Don’t throw it out- you MIGHT find the other one…

Another week has literally flown by! Between my online money making ventures, grand-kids, and our new trailer, I’ve been busy, busy, busy!

Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

Don’t throw it out!

My son was pawing through the infamous sock basket, looking for a pair of socks that actually matched.

He holds up a sock and said he’s been looking for the mate for 4 years (I’m SURE he was exaggerating!).

This made me wonder why we keep holding onto these socks so long….I mean, know I have sock issues, but really…………..

Camping…

We picked up the trailer last week. It is old as dirt and needed a few things, but we got a heck of a deal. We can always upgrade later and sell this or maybe we’ll just keep it forever.  :-)

Here’s a pic- It isn’t the best as I took it with my phone and I forgot how to zoom in & out. Since my 13 yr old wasn’t there to show me AGAIN, I backed up. Bang- ran into the house. So it is what it is!

It was pretty dirty in this pic. She needed a good bath- she looks much better now. We also need to replace the door ( kids tried to break in when previous owners had it) and the floor in the bedroom needed to be replaced because the water holding tank had a leak.

Other than that, everything works and we’re ready to get up to camp on the 27th.

Can’t wait!

1 can crushed pineapple

Dump it into the 13 X 9 pan right over the pie filling…

1 box (dry) yellow cake mix

Sprinkle it over the other ingredients

2 sticks of button, melted.

Pour over dry cake mix- don’t worry that it doesn’t absorb.. it will in baking.

A super exciting week!

This has been an exciting week. So much has transpired it makes my head swim!

The first piece of news is- we found a trailer! It is really too funny how it happened. I had all but given up for this year…..

I just asked! Actually, we found two trailers by asking. Both were friends and I was just goofing around asking when they were going to sell their trailer and how much. Both of them came up with a price!

So this weekend we pick up the one we chose. Both were pretty old but in good condition- one a tow-behind, one a  small class A- the kind you drive. Even though Ron is  a mechanic, he didn’t want to get involved fixing the class A.

The tow behind just needs the door fixed (minor) and hardwood flooring installed (the flooring came with the trailer).

We won’t be able to travel like I want right now, but that’s ok. Ron’s job is too new, and we used up most of our savings when Ron wasn’t getting paid by his old boss and then when the shop closed for good. You need moola to travel, and lots of it!

We went last weekend to look at some campgrounds. We found one we liked, picked out a spot and should start camping on the 27th of this month. The season lasts until October 1st, so we can get a little camping in this year! Since we homeschool, we can stay all season if we want!

Now I can start posting to my camping blog again:

http://www.athomeonwheels.com

The second great piece of news?

I made another $10.00 the other day with We use coupons! I have made $10.00 several times over………this is by far one of my favorite affiliate programs!

AND….I can save money as well with the coupons!

A double-good deal!

And…Little Man is here for a visit! We haven’t seen him in a couple of weeks!

Check out the pic- a little fuzzy, but….

Little Man loves to be carted around the yard by Aunt Princess :-)

Check out our homeschooling page to see some stuff we’ve been learning. Even though Little Man is not homeschooled, he learns with us at times.

Ticked off by twitter?

Yesterday I tried to Tweet and Twitter was over capacity! THIS is what I had to say about that!

And last but not least- check this out:

AmeriPlan on Good Morning America

The company that I have my home business through, AmeriPlan was just on Good Morning America!

I’m surprised I heard it. Usually when I’m on the computer, I tune out the TV. Ron will make a comment about a news piece and I’m like, “Huh?” Totally oblivious.

For those who don’t know about AmeriPlan, they are a discount health benefits company. Members save up to 80% on dental, vision, prescription, chiropractic and health.

I have worked for the company for a couple of years and I have personally saved quite a bit. I get some of the benefits for FREE just for working with the company.

Check out my blog post, here are Grandpa’s glasses….

http://workinginjammies.blogspot.com/2009/04/here-are-grandpas-glasses.html

They have great savings, and a fantastic work at home opportunity.

I worked it pretty steady for a couple of years, and now, because of residual income,  I can do what I love, Blogging….

I still work my AmeriPlan, but I’m not so “in your face” with it like I used to be. I have it on my home biz pages on my blogs, and I still throw flyers out when I’m ramming the roads.

Surprisingly, I get a few less prospects for the work at home opportunity, but they are a whole lot more qualified than the one’s I used to get with FREE advertising.

That’s what I love about blogging and social networking….I learned to STOP the free online ad scam when I started using the Attraction Marketing System.

Anyhoo, back to AmeriPlan……

If you need a good dental or health plan, go to:

http://www.dentalandhealthnow.com

BTW- they also have a few “non-medical” programs, such as ID protection, roadside assistance program and savings on dining, shopping and recreation.

If you are looking for a great work at home opportunity, go to:

Here’s wishing everyone a Happy Hump Day!

Hate zucchini? Really?

We were visiting some friends the other day when they started talking about zucchini.

The one fellows mother had a ton of zucchini from her garden that she couldn’t GIVE away! My zucchini is just starting to grow.

There were 5-6 people there and they were all like, “Zucchini, yuk! I hate it!”

Where have these people been? There are so many good things you can make with zucchini!

Benefits of zucchini:

Zucchini (or “courgette”) is:

  • Low in Saturated Fat, Sodium, and Cholesterol
  • High in Dietary Fiber, Protein, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, Folate, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium, Zinc, Copper, Manganese, Thiamin, Niacin and Pantothenic Acid

The nutritional value of zucchini makes it ideal for:

  • Maintaining optimum health
  • Weight loss

Don’t include too much zucchini in your diet if you’re interested in:

  • Weight gain

So won’t you give zucchini a second try?

Check out some of my recipes for zucchini recipes HERE:

Wine, Walnuts and Pineapple for breakfast!

Friday Fragments

Wine, Walnuts and Pineapple for breakfast?

You always hear about those super-foods that are good for you.

Wine: Reduces all-cause mortality, cardiovascular disease and cancer among men, i s associated with a reduced risk of stroke, and woman wine drinkers have fewer kidney stones  (good news for me since I only have one kidney :-) .

Walnuts: They are rich in fiber B vitamins, magnesium, and antioxidants such as Vitamin E . Nuts  are also high in plant sterols and fat – but mostly monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats (omega 3 fatty acids- the good fats) that have been shown to lower LDL cholesterol. Walnuts, in particular, have significantly higher amounts of omega 3 fatty acids as compared to other nuts.

Walnuts help reduce the risk of heart disease by improving blood vessel elasticity and plaque accumulation. They also help reduce bad cholesterol.

Pineapple:  Its nutrients include calcium, potassium, fiber, and vitamin C. In addition it is low in fat and cholesterol.

I also remember reading somewhere that Pineapple has “reverse calories”, meaning you can actually LOSE calories while eating it.

Garlic:  Garlic has long been considered a herbal “wonder drug”, with a reputation in folklore for preventing everything from colds to flu- even the Plague!

Can have a powerful antioxidant effect. Antioxidants can help to protect the body against damaging “free radicals”.

There is some evidence that garlic can assist in managing cholesterol.

Raw garlic is used by some to treat the symptoms of acne and can even be effective as a natural mosquito repellent.

Cinnamon:  Studies have indicated that cinnamon has anti-fungal, antibacterial and anti parasitic properties.

Cinnamon has been found to be effective in fighting vaginal yeast infections, oral yeast infections, stomach ulcers and head lice.

It has anti-inflammatory properties and may help those with type-2 diabetes control their sugar levels.

Cinnamon is an excellent source of manganese, dietary fiber, iron and calcium.

And last but not least…..studies show that just SMELLING cinnamon improves memory and performance on certain tasks.

Need I say more?

So tomorrow morning, grab yourself a glass of wine, followed by a teaspoon of raw garlic, a slice of pineapple and some cinnamon toast. Make that on high fiber bread. And while you’re at it, throw in a handful of blueberries….

Yum…good healthy breakfast! Eat, drink and be merry!

A Perfectly Perfect Day

My daughter is away at camp until tomorrow. I have been trying to get updated with my home business stuff since getting the computer back.

Yesterday I woke up- did my emails and read a few blogs. Then, I threw work to the wind (sort of) and took a break.

My friend “L” is a “new” New Yorker. She has  lived in Texas, California and Arizona for the majority of her life. Her husband is from here. They came out here a year or so ago. Her husband worked with Ron, which is how we became friends.

Anyhoo, she hasn’t been to a lot of the “hot spots” In Central New York,  so I took her to one of the parks which is on a lake.

They have miles of walking trails that run along the lake, you can rent bikes, kayaks and rowboats. There is also a tram that stops at several points along the way. There are playgrounds scattered along the way and a food stand at one of the stops. There are also grills and picnic tables everywhere.

They also have a great dog park, but I left puppy home. No dogs allowed on the trams………….and I wanted my friend to experience that. Sorry Cosmo (the puppy!)

I swear, we had the most beautiful day you could get! It was in the mid 80′s but felt cooler because it was slightly overcast and breezy. It’s always a little cooler by the lake anyway.

We started out walking, just talking and taking in the sights. We walked about 2 miles – until we got to the food stand.

We had a hot dog, hung out a while, then took the tram from that point to the end of the route, and back again to where the tram starts.

Then we left. We were there several hours and we were both beat! We went back to her place and hung another hour or so, then I left.

I rushed around the grocery store looking for something easy to make indoors as it looked like rain was on the horizon.

I get home around 5:30- no one’s here! Ron is on a road call and the boy’s were still at work picking blueberries.

The boys got home around 6:30 and had already bought something to eat on the way home. Ron showed up around 8 p.m. and announced he had grabbed a couple of slices of pizza when he was out.

Cool!

I fended for myself and had my favorite zucchini dish. I’ll put the recipe up tomorrow…

Now I must go to the library and get a dream book for my Journal Writing class tonight. We are analyzing dreams- always a lot of fun!

BTW- On my other blog, I posted about a great exercise to do if you are a business owner. Check it out HERE.
