Fair warning! This post is about God….if you are an athiest you may exit the room if you wish. But I would love to have you stay and read this!
The last few days I have been taking a class at my church called “The Art of Hearing God”. It was 2 hours on Thursday, 12 hours yesterday, and 12 hours today.
It is actually being streamed in via computer from The Bridge church in Orlando.
Thank the Lord for modern technology!
Thursday was a bit rough as we had 2 appointments earlier in the day- both in the city. One in the morning for me, one in the afternoon for my daughter. It was too large of a time frame between the two appointments to bring my daughter with me to mine, so I brought her to school. I picked her up in time (barely) for appointment. My appointment ran a bit late, so we were about 2-3 minutes late for my daughters. But the receptionist didn’t even notice. The office is in the hospital. You have to register before going to your appointment. That can sometimes take a while.
Then the class from 7 p.m.- 9 p.m.
So Thursday was run, run, run.
Yesterday was great- a bit long but still all good. We had 1 1/2 hours for lunch. Several of us stayed at the church and just talked. It was nice to really get to know some of these people. I am fairly new there (8-9 months) and I think all but one other was even newer. So we had good fellowship too.
It’s funny but I often hear myself “preaching” in my head if that’s what you want to call it. It’s like I’ll be thinking it but I don’t even realize it, or I think, “You sound like you’re preaching or something”. I always assumed my subconcious was coming up with the stuff, like I was making it up.
But I’m starting to learn that it may be God. We all have the ability to hear God and in fact do….we just don’t recognize it. Or we call it intuition.
Sometimes (and I’m guilty here) we need to get rid of some “gunk” ….either something in your life that is against God’s wishes, or something or someone from your past you need to get rid of.
Once we are a clean vessal, it will be easier for God to draw nearer to us and have a relationship with us.
So I decided instead of assuming these “thoughts” are of my mind, I’m going to start writing them down and see if they align with Gods Word.
I was thinking about someone that is going through a rough time right now- I don’t even remember who it was. I think it was a friend of the family who is about 19- 20 y/o. I’ve been thinking about him and praying for him quite a bit lately.
I doubt if he ever stepped foot in a church and it’s probably the furthest thing from his mind. But as I was thinking about the situation, this started running through my head. I grabbed a pen & paper and wrote:
You may not be able to see Me right now but I always see you. Even if you give up on yourself, know that I, your Daddy in heaven, never gives up on you.
I am always rooting for you and want only the best that life has to offer you. So even if you can’t see me now, seek me and know that in your darkest moments that I am always on your side…..
That was about the gist of it…it’s kind of weird to write as you think. It’s almost like freewriting. You’re not thinking about what to write first, but hurrying to write what you think before you lose the thought.
Wow.
Next class: Dreams and Visions…..I can’t wait for that.
I have some weird dreams…like this one.
Ok, have to go get ready for class.
I would like to encourage anyone that hasn’t been to church in a while to give it a try. If you don’t like one church, try another.
Try a non-denominational church…they have less “rituals” and more real teaching from the bible. They also believe in people exercising the gifts God has given them. They usually have great worship services (music).
If you can find a church that feels like home with people you can love (and who will love you!) you will be so blessed.
Sermon over. Athiests may return to the room!
P.S. In case there are any doubts in your mind about whether this whole “God thing” is real, check out this book:
Heaven is for real by Todd Burpo
It is a true story about a 3 year old boy that went to heaven and came back. Over the years, he has revealed so much about seeing Jesus, deceased relatives and more. There is NO WAY a 3 year old could know this stuff. And it all aligns with what the Bible says!
I have a few pages left to read- it was an awesome book. I’m having my 14 year old daughter read it next.
God moves in mysterious ways!
