The deed is done….now on to Christmas

I’m a married woman (again!) as of Sunday! The wedding went off without a hitch and the “Rahge party” (garage) was a great success!

We ended up having my sister and Ron’s brother stand up for us, although that was a bit last minute. Ron didn’t know his brother was coming, so it was a great surprise and we asked him to stand up for Ron. My sisters hubby was there just in case-lol!

I have a few pics on my Facebook, but they are a bit unclear. This was so rushed, I didn’t even think about a photographer! My nephew was video recording it, but had issues with the recorder. Oh well!

Now I have to get out there and hustle up some Christmas gifts.  I have decided that most of the kids are going to get some sort of gift certificate. I am so sick of overpriced toys that break after a few uses.  And these kids have so many relatives and get SO much JUNK.

So have to run…I SWEAR one day the pace will slow and I’ll be back regular-like soon!

Love ya all!

And I will be back before Christmas just to spread a bit of cheer!

Friday Fragments: What’s she up to now?

Mommy's Idea

News Flash!

I’ve been super busy! I’m getting married in two days!

Quick Tip for dress shopping: Don’t go alone! You may need a second opinion about a particular dress, and some of these dresses are hard to get back out of!

Just saying…….

You can read more about the wedding HERE….

Christmas

Um…it’s Christmas time? LOL!

I have purchased one gift so far!  We only have a couple of little kids in the family to buy for.  Our boys, who are 20 years old & up are getting gift certificates.

Ron & I have spent enough for the wedding- we may get a little something for each other, but that’s about it!

Weather

No real snow yet here in Central New York, but it is C-O-L-D and windy! There are 1,000′s in our county without power right now. We were the lucky one’s and still have service!

Pray for good weather for Sunday….we have people coming from as far as 3 hours away for the wedding.

So much for secrets…everyone in the world knows now & I swear 1/2 the population is coming!

Sorry to spit out a few fragments and run, but I have alot to do still…cleaning, shopping & cooking for the breakfast at church Sunday.

See you all later and hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Here comes the bride…..

Ok, I can’t contain it anymore…I have to tell one of my secrets that I have been holding. These secrets have been KILLING me! I couldn’t even think of anything else to blog about, so I haven’t been blogging.

I’m getting married Sunday right after church.

This may surprise some who thought that Ron and I were already married, but we’re not. It cracks me up that quite a few of our friends just assumed we were married-lol!

We have been together officially for over 13 years. I say officially because we went on a date once a year or so before, but the timing wasn’t right. He had custody of his kids, so there were 3 people there to think about there. And I had 3 kids.

We were friends before that and stayed friends. And when the time was right we hooked up. But not the way God intended for people to hook up. Since going back to church, I’ve been severly convicted by God concerning that.

So I prayed. Funny how God works.

In the past, when someone mentioned marriage, Ron always had a comeback (like he always does-lol!)…usually negative. You know, the old ball & chain talk.

So I prayed for God to bring him to church and also to soften his heart regarding marriage.

God was faithful! Ron has been to church a few times- granted it’s when food is present, but it’s a start.

Now this: He started talking about us getting married! Just little off-the-cuff remarks. He also likes to watch Redneck Weddings. Lately he’s always got some kind of comment about how he’d do things differently if it was his wedding…no more ball & chain talk.

Sunday at church they are having worship, then a short play (which I happen to be in) , then a breakfast. After the place clears out, we’ll have the wedding. We told people around 1:15.

Ron keeps telling everyone if they don’t come to church for the service, they can’t come to the wedding. So several friends are coming for the play & breakfast, too!

He’s so funny, my honey! But boy oh boy, he just keeps getting better and better everyday! And one step closer to our Lord & Savior- even if he doesn’t realize it’s happening……

We decided to do this just after Thanksgiving and decided to do it right away. We just got the date set in stone last week. This was going to just be a small affair with Ron, the kids & I….we were going to send everyone a videotape after.

But the secret got out and now who knows how many people are coming now…but it’s all good!

I’m excited…but I’m still looking for a dress.

So gotta go…just wanted to update everyone.

Friday Fragments

The Audubon Society

This year, the adults in my extended family decided to donate to a charity rather than draw names and exchange gifts. So everyone named a charity and we randomly picked one. The Audubon Society won!

The Audubon Society is an organization whose mission is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth’s biological diversity.

Audubon Centers and sanctuaries are hubs of conservation exploration, research, and action, allowing millions to discover and defend the natural world. Audubon, the nation’s most acclaimed conservation magazine introduces schoolchildren, families and nature-lovers of all ages to the wonders of nature and the power of conservation at home and around the world.

There are nearly 500 local Chapters nationwide that engage members in grassroots conservation action.

If you would like to donate to the Audubon Society, go to their website at: http://www.audubon.org/

All donations are being matched until December 31st.

Deck the Halls

Tomorrow afternoon I’m going to help with decorating our church. I also offered to help with the Christmas play, which I think the director took as I’m willing to play a part! Well, I was a child star after all!

Snow or no snow?

I feel like taking bets! Will we have snow for Christmas? Here it is December 2nd and we have had VERY little snow here in Central New York.

A wonderful Post-Thanksgiving weekend!

[editors note: This was actually written the other day, but I somehow neglected to publish it then! Distractions....]

Thanksgiving was an awesome time of friends of family coming together and pigging out just sharing a little bit of love for one another and to give thanks for what we have.

The day after Thanksgiving, my daughter and I went down to Pennsylvania to see my mom and uncle. My sister was also there from Virginia with her husband and granddaughter.

We went downtown for a Christmas parade and the lighting of the tree in the park. It was a great time. They had candy for the kids, Christmas carols and candles for people to light and hold.

It was especially funny when they said they wanted to see everyone rock around the Christmas tree as they played the song of the same name. My sister and I really got into that.  Then we accused each other of being like our mother. A little joke between us…

Love you mom :-)

Church on Sunday was a blessing , as always.

Yesterday I was a bit under the weather, but I’m back!

I’m way behind on EVERYTHING but hey, what can I say?

One bright moment to my day….

I was getting the boxes of Christmas stuff out for my daughter to do the tree later. As I carried one bin out, I looked down and spied a business card sitting on the top.

I picked it up and read it.  It was my grandmothers card from when she was an antiques dealer. She passed away several years ago.

Christmas was her absolute favorite time of the year.

I took a picture of it and sent it to my mom, sister and nephew with a note , “Grandma June said hello…”

That was weird…I have no idea how that card got there.  I’m not even sure I had a card, although my mom may have given me one when Grandma died. But how it got there and not in my huge journaling folder, I’ll never know…

At least till I get to heaven!

Friday Fragments

We had a great Thanksgiving yesterday.  Three of our boys were here as well as my daughter. The one son’s GF came, as well as my nephew, wife and their son. All the usuals.  But this year, we also had one of Ron’s brothers and his long time significant other over.

A few friends stopped by here and there.

We ate well…like all day long! We had some great fellowship with one another and just had a great time.

In a couple of hours, my daughter and I are headed to Pennsylvania to see my mom and uncle. My sister and her clan are up from Pennsylvania, so it will be great to see her and hang.  Tonight we are probably going to the tree lighting ceremony downtown - guess they have a very nice one.

Ok, have to go do a bit of blog hopping, then pack to go.

I’ll check back in later today!

But before you leave here, please check out my last post, Bless Someone Today.

See you around the blogosphere!

Bless someone today!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you’re all hanging with people you love today, whether it’s with family or friends.

Today I want to talk about blessing others.  As my regular readers know, last weekend I took a class at my church called , “The Art of Hearing God”.  It was being presented in Orlando at The Bridge Orlando church, and we took it at my church via live streaming through the computer. Gotta love modern technology!

I have to say, that class was awesome. Intense, but awesome. It was 2 hours Thursday night and 12 hours both Friday & Saturday. I had a ton of information overload, yet Saturday night I just had some awesome visions.  When I went to church Sunday, Mrs. Pastor (he & she are both pastors :-) asked me if I slept well the night before.  When I said no, she said not too many people from the class did.  The Holy Spirt was moving that night!

One thing I learned is that God talks to us through words, dreams and visions a lot more than we realize.  Sometimes we don’t recognize it for what it is, and sometimes we may have something going in our lives (sin…ouch!) that is blocking the flow.

I’ve always been what I call “intuitive”.  I have often known when people are pregnant, I’ve sensed a few deaths before they happened, known when people were unhappy or in need even if they didn’t “show” it.  Stuff like that.

Lately I have just been in the mood to bless people.  I have always put change in the red kettles that the Salvation Army puts out during the holidays. Some days I would put money in every one I saw, even if I went to 5 or 6 stores. I know, it all goes to the same place.  Oh well,  that’s what I felt like doing at the time.

Last week I had child support court. My ex-husband had lost his job. He’s in Oregon and could attend court via phone. I had to go into the city each time. 3 or 4 times in all! Not sure if the ex forgot about the time change, but he didn’t show up 2 or 3 times- and he’s the one who was bringing me to court-lol!

I always park in the same lot. The same fellow is always working there. He seems like a nice enough guy. Not too young, not too old.

As I was getting ready to go that morning a thought popped into my head…..”Give the parking lot guy a $5.00 tip and tell him to have a Merry Christmas”

I just kept thinking about that the whole time I was at court. So I did it!

Now I had to come back to the city later for another appointment and park in another facility. I was scurring around that morning to make sure I had enough cash on hand for everything I had to do that day.

But I gave the guy the $5.00 and I swear he was flabbergasted!

I ended up having enough money for everything that day.

I did not feel compelled to give the attendant at the second parking facility anything.

Since then day I have felt that urge a couple of more times and acted on them. The people (when it involved people) have just looked so “Touched”.  For some reason I don’t even miss the money.  Of course at times it’s only chunk change.

But to some that may mean a gallon of milk for the kids. I don’t know if that parking lot guy even need the money.  But if he didn’t, maybe he’ll turn around and bless someone else!

I was thinking of ways that we may bless others, even when at times we feel like WE need the blessing!

1. If you live in a state that requires a deposit on bottles and cans, put all of your “proceeds” from your can returns in the tip bucket.

2. Empty out your change purse and put it in one of those charity containers at a fast food restaurant or store.  Just empty it out in front of everyone…maybe someone else will feel compelled to do the same.

3. Buy Christmas gifts for a child or family in need.

A few non-monetary blessings

1. Offer to babysit for someone so they can go shopping or out on a “date”

2. Invite someone that you sense is in need out to lunch or over for supper.

3. Listen…sometimes people just need someone to talk to. You don’t have to offer solutions, just listen. Send out “love vibes” as you pray for them.

Ok, so I should get off my pulpit here….but in closing I just wanted to encourage you to ask God how he’d like you to bless others.  Then just pay attention to your thoughts, dreams and any visions you have.

When we bless others, we are blessed right back!

Have a great day!

Hearing God……..

Fair warning! This post is about God….if you are an athiest you may exit the room if you wish. But I would love to have you stay and read this!

The last few days I have been taking a class at my church called “The Art of Hearing God”. It was 2 hours on Thursday, 12 hours yesterday, and 12 hours today.

It is actually being streamed in via computer from The Bridge church in Orlando.

Thank the Lord for modern technology!

Thursday was a bit rough as we had 2 appointments earlier in the day- both in the city. One in the morning for me, one in the afternoon for my daughter. It was too large of a time frame between the two appointments to bring my daughter with me to mine, so I brought her to school. I picked her up in time (barely) for appointment.  My appointment ran a bit late, so we were about 2-3 minutes late for my daughters. But the receptionist didn’t even notice. The office is in the hospital.  You have to register before going to your appointment. That can sometimes take a while.

Then the class from 7 p.m.- 9 p.m.

So Thursday was run, run, run.

Yesterday was great- a bit long but still all good. We had 1 1/2 hours for lunch. Several of us stayed at the church and just talked. It was nice to really get to know some of these people. I am fairly new there (8-9 months) and I think all but one other was even newer. So we had good fellowship too.

It’s funny but I often hear myself “preaching” in my head  if that’s what you want to call it.  It’s like I’ll be thinking it but I don’t even realize it, or I think, “You sound like you’re preaching or something”.   I always assumed my subconcious was coming up with the stuff, like I was making it up.

But I’m starting to learn that it may be God.  We all have the ability to hear God and in fact do….we just don’t recognize it.  Or we call it intuition.

Sometimes (and I’m guilty here) we need to get rid of some “gunk” ….either something in your life that is against God’s wishes, or something or someone from your past you need to get rid of.

Once we are a clean vessal, it will be easier for God to draw nearer to us and have a relationship with us.

So I decided instead of assuming these “thoughts” are of my mind, I’m going to start writing them down and see if they align with Gods Word.

I was thinking about someone that is going through a rough time right now- I don’t even remember who it was. I think it was a friend of the family who is about 19- 20 y/o.  I’ve been thinking about him and praying for him quite a bit lately.

I doubt if he ever stepped foot in a church and it’s probably the furthest thing from his mind. But as I was thinking about the situation, this started running through my head. I grabbed a pen & paper and wrote:

You may not be able to see Me right now but I always see you.  Even if you give up on yourself, know that I, your Daddy in heaven, never gives up on you.

I am always rooting for you and want only the best that life has to offer you. So even if you can’t see me now, seek me and know that in your darkest moments that I am always on your side…..

That was about the gist of it…it’s kind of weird to write as you think.  It’s almost like freewriting.  You’re not thinking about what to write first, but hurrying to write what you think before you lose the thought.

Wow.

Next class: Dreams and Visions…..I can’t wait for that.

I have some weird dreams…like this one.

Ok, have to go get ready for class.

I would like to encourage anyone that hasn’t been to church in a while to give it a try. If you don’t like one church, try another.

Try a non-denominational church…they have less “rituals” and more real teaching from the bible. They also believe in people exercising the gifts God has given them. They usually have great worship services (music).

If you can find a church that feels like home with people you can love (and who will love you!) you will be so blessed.

Sermon over. Athiests may return to the room!

P.S. In case there are any doubts in your mind about whether this whole “God thing” is real, check out this book:

Heaven is for real by Todd Burpo

It is a true story about a 3 year old boy that went to heaven and came back.  Over the years, he has revealed so much about seeing Jesus, deceased relatives and more. There is NO WAY a 3 year old could know this stuff. And it all aligns with what the Bible says!

I have a few pages left to read- it was an awesome book. I’m having my 14 year old daughter read it next.

God moves in mysterious ways!

A wave, a beep or the nose up in the air?

The other day our neighbor Mike brought some Carhart bib overalls down for Ron. Someone had given them to Mike, but they were a bit too big for him.  He knows Ron goes out in the Crazy Snowing & Blowing Central New York weather for work. So he regifted them.

We walked down to his place to tell him thanks.  We sat out in his driveway watching the cars go by.  Mike is a single guy. He said he and his friends used to hang out in the backyard, but for some reason they migrated to the front yard one day.

They make a game of seeing who will wave, who will beep and who will stick their nose in the air and act like they didn’t see you waving!

This brought back memories of my Dad.  The house I grew up in is on a state route. Pretty Busy.  My Dad (and whoever happened to be around at the time) would sit in lawn chairs in the front yard. He would drink his coffee (or a beer if it was later in the day…) and wave to all the passersby.

I used to love sitting out there with Dad.  We’d just chat and wave…..chat and wave!

Dad was a volunteer Fireman, so all the local fireman would give a beep and a wave.

A bit of double-love!

Mike was telling us a story of being down at the local bar playing pool with some buddies.  They played against someone and they all got talking about where they hail from.

The guy says to Mike, “Oh you’re the guy that waves to everyone!”

Mike asked the guy what he drives. When the fellow told him, Mike said, “You drive by at such and such a time…”

They knew each other…sort of!

What amazed me about all of this is that although times are supposedly so bad, MOST people still waved or beeped.

Usually it was the younger girls that stuck their noses in the air and acted like they didn’t see us!

Like they thought one of us was going to hop out of our chair and start chasing them down the road!

For the most part, I would say most people are still friendly. Most people waved or beeped.

What about your neighborhood?

Would you get a wave, a beep or a nose in the air?

Just wondering!
