Even though the week goes fast, I always look forward to Fridays. It’s a day (ok weekend for me) of great blog-hopping.

Never blog-hopped? That’s ok, just click the buttons below to be taken to some. They will tell you what you need to do on each site.

Wine, Walnuts and Pineapple for breakfast?

You always hear about those super-foods that are good for you.

Wine: Reduces all-cause mortality, cardiovascular disease and cancer among men, i s associated with a reduced risk of stroke, and woman wine drinkers have fewer kidney stones  (good news for me since I only have one kidney :-) .

Walnuts: They are rich in fiber B vitamins, magnesium, and antioxidants such as Vitamin E . Nuts  are also high in plant sterols and fat – but mostly monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats (omega 3 fatty acids- the good fats) that have been shown to lower LDL cholesterol. Walnuts, in particular, have significantly higher amounts of omega 3 fatty acids as compared to other nuts.

Walnuts help reduce the risk of heart disease by improving blood vessel elasticity and plaque accumulation. They also help reduce bad cholesterol.

Pineapple:  Its nutrients include calcium, potassium, fiber, and vitamin C. In addition it is low in fat and cholesterol.

I also remember reading somewhere that Pineapple has “reverse calories”, meaning you can actually LOSE calories while eating it.

Garlic:  Garlic has long been considered a herbal “wonder drug”, with a reputation in folklore for preventing everything from colds to flu- even the Plague!

Can have a powerful antioxidant effect. Antioxidants can help to protect the body against damaging “free radicals”.

There is some evidence that garlic can assist in managing cholesterol.

Raw garlic is used by some to treat the symptoms of acne and can even be effective as a natural mosquito repellent.

Cinnamon:  Studies have indicated that cinnamon has anti-fungal, antibacterial and anti parasitic properties.

Cinnamon has been found to be effective in fighting vaginal yeast infections, oral yeast infections, stomach ulcers and head lice.

It has anti-inflammatory properties and may help those with type-2 diabetes control their sugar levels.

Cinnamon is an excellent source of manganese, dietary fiber, iron and calcium.

And last but not least…..studies show that just SMELLING cinnamon improves memory and performance on certain tasks.

Need I say more?

So tomorrow morning, grab yourself a glass of wine, followed by a teaspoon of raw garlic, a slice of pineapple and some cinnamon toast. Make that on high fiber bread. And while you’re at it, throw in a handful of blueberries….

Yum…good healthy breakfast! Eat, drink and be merry!

Hmm…I might have to pick up a cinnamon scented candle the next time I’m at the mall. If I can remember to do it, that is.

Walnuts is rich in healthy fasts and pineapple is rich in fiber. Both are good for our health.
